G'day G'day Mush97,

It's getting late at night here.  My crystal ball is fast clouding and
my brain is screaming "Go to bed, go to bed," so help me and I'll do
what I can to help you in the morning if someone hasn't already done
so.

Maybe you are worried because you have some symptoms that could be
diabetic neuropathy.  Maybe you are simply interested in it for some
other reason.  How about you take a look at,

http://diabetes.niddk.nih.gov/dm/pubs/neuropathies/#causes

When you come across things you don't understand or need further
interpretation, ask for explanations. Some one will be delighted to
share their experiences and give it all a more personal face.

Best wishes

Here is a cut and paste from the site in case you can't for some
reason access it.

Symptoms

Symptoms depend on the type of neuropathy and which nerves are
affected. Some people have no symptoms at all. For others, numbness,
tingling, or pain in the feet is often the first sign. A person can
experience both pain and numbness. Often, symptoms are minor at first,
and since most nerve damage occurs over several years, mild cases may
go unnoticed for a long time. Symptoms may involve the sensory or
motor nervous system, as well as the involuntary (autonomic) nervous
system. In some people, mainly those with focal neuropathy, the onset
of pain may be sudden and severe.

Symptoms may include

numbness, tingling, or pain
in the toes, feet, legs, hands, arms, and fingers

wasting of the muscles of the feet or hands

indigestion, nausea, or vomiting

diarrhea or constipation

dizziness or faintness due to a drop in postural blood pressure

problems with urination

erectile dysfunction (impotence) or vaginal dryness

weakness

In addition, the following symptoms are not due to neuropathy but
nevertheless often accompany it:

weight loss
depression

Best wishes,

Quentin and Mush:

I am posting over the top, but not adding much.  The major categories of
diabetic neuropathy are peripheral and autonomic.  The symptoms of these
two categories can vary greatly since they impact different sets of
nerves.  Autonomic can effect the organs like the heart, intestines, etc.
