When I get tempted to reply to some posts,  I compose the post,

Then I wait one hour before i post it.  So far I delete almost all.of
them.
Cheri - 27 Jan 2006 02:03 GMT
Obviously you didn't wait the hour on this one. ;-) Just kidding Guy. I
always look forward to your posts.

I wonder if "she who is nameless" could give that method a try.  But
increase the hour to 6 months...

If she could see this I would imagine she would answer, "You first."

The following information is given with the utmost respect
for the armed forces and civilians who have died in the
current war in Iraq. According to http://icasualties.org/oif/
The number of Americans killed in Iraq as of Jan. 25, 2006 is 2,239.
United Kingdom = 98
Other = 103
Iraqi deaths in excess of 30,000
according to President Bush - probably many more.

Anon - 27 Jan 2006 02:11 GMT
I should follow that policy. I have made a few posts that I would have taken
back an hour later.

Gee, doesn't your pen name here protect you from the repercussions of
ill-considered posts?
Sorry, I couldn't resist,

Good idea. My current problem is that I'll forget to post it in an hour.

A very good practice.
Sometimes I have deleted them after less than five minutes.
Too bad when my blood is up (poor choice of words for a diabetic) the
resolve to do this usually flies right out the window.

Good policy Guy, however it sure is tempting at times, eh?

Being a basically lazy person, I have a much easier way of handling
this.  If I'm not sure whether I should reply, I go to the menu and
select "MARK UNREAD".  If I am careful when leaving the newsgroup (the
default keystroke to leave marks everything as read), then the next time
I read that group, I see it as a new message.  Sometimes I then realize
that I would be better off not replying.

Of course, if you are one of those people that gets relief from writing
replies, even if you don't send them, then this won't work for you.

That is a great idea Guy,  and it can be applied to all aspects of life.
I was told to walk away from an argument and only talk about it when the
anger has subsided.

No wonder I try not to ever fight. lol
