Mine just offered to enroll me in the pre-release trial. They supply the
stuff and the pens needed to use it. No appointment needed as I was just
there two months ago.

So if you have been waiting for it to become available, it's worth
giving your doctor a call. It won't be available via prescription until
June.

The only downside turns out to be that it is ONLY available in pens and
cartridges and the pens cannot dispense half units, only 1 unit increments.

Also, the drug company reps told my doctor that it is "once a day"
insulin, which is patently not true if you read the Prescribing
Information supplied by the manufacturer. The only people for whom it is
24 hour insulin are those taking very large type 2 doses. For people
taking smaller doses, the manufacturer's data says .2u/kg, it lasts
12-14 hours.  Unfortunately, my Dr. tends to believe the drug reps, so
I'm heading over there to pick up my kit with a bunch of printouts.

I finally have gotten the UL worked out pretty good with 2 shots a day,
and am very slowly getting to where I don't feel hypo when I'm at 85. I
have never run very high--almost never over 200 and under 120 as much as
possible, but I have barely been able to get under 110 without insulin
for some years, so the 85 is new. It also feels a Whole Lot Better,
energy-wise!

Hi Jenny,

Did you get a "credit card" in your kit for use of buying one box of
NovoFine pen needles?  I did.  My doctor seemed to think it was a free
box each month, but the card only looks like it's for single-use.  I
used it like a credit card after giving the Rx numbers to the pharmacy
tech.

I love the funny puke-green case that it all came in...hee hee.
