Diabetes will be hell in thew future

Some of find these diabetes sites  and
use them for a lark.Others are here because they
have sense enough to try to postpone or even
avoid the consequences of diabetes.

Why don't you come by for a cup of coffee.  I am
up at 3 AM with problems.   I expect to have them
as long as I live.   My neighbor died last year after
a long period of a grossly swollen leg.  An
older woman we know well had a heart attack
a few months ago and was dead as the 911
people arrived.  Another one on a weight
reduction program  had  a staple operation,
developed an infection that killed him. On
and On.

A hallmark of diabetes is that typically there
is long term lingering suffering.

These groups were setup to  help diabetes
to serve  normal people, not the mixed
up  mentally confused  people.

It is anarchy but could use a policeman.  It
does not need those with a kids mentality,
yelping like a kicked puppy.

Decent people will respect other people
and do show some consideration for the many
here that do suffer. Your time will come unless
there is more progress which is very slow coming.

Don't like  this--- GOOD.  Right now I will
be  pleased if I fracture the delicate
ego of some spoiled brat..

Look MA, I am a computer expert and I run
the world.  I can throw my weight around.
For $500 I can be a wheel.

As a new user of this group, I am very disappointed in the amount of off-
topic stuff that has been posted here since I picked up this group.
Honestly, I am not really interested in participating here with such
nonsense going on. I am a fan of web based message boards for important
topics such as this because they tend to weed out the idiots.

If someone wishes to maintain such a board, I would be more than happy to
set one up for them. If someone is even willing to register a domain name
for this purpose, I would be willing to host it free of charge (or on a
donations base from users who enjoy it). No ads, no strings, just serious
people who want to discuss a serious conversation about diabetes.

I am a type II diabetic and the disease has been very much on my mind these
days. I'd like to discuss it. Not sure I want to do it here. Sorry.

Bill.

Hey Bill,

It is obvious that you are a discerning, very tolerant and intelligent
person, just the sort of poster this newsgroup really needs. I am so
sorry that you are disappointed, I feel embarassed and humiliated
on your behalf. I can only apologize on behalf of the group. If you
knew that someone with your sensibiliteis was coming we would
have cleaned up our act.

f.ck you very much for your thoughtful input.

BTW, in case you still haven't figured it out, basically what I am
saying is "why don't you go back to your  WEB based world,
sh.t in your hands and then clap."

Idiot!

Moderated web-based groups weed out the idiots for you. In unmoderated
newsgroups you have to do the weeding yourself. There are plenty of
good automated tools to make this easy for you, such as
killfiles. It's much easier to learn how to use these tools than
learning how to control diabetes. There's a lot of very good
information to be found here. As with controlling your diabetes, the
big question is can you be bothered?

There already are moderated groups. You don't have to reinvent the wheel.
Just look around. But even moderated groups will have off-topic threads at
times -- just as in any topic-based community (club), people drift off into
non-related conversations from time to time. I believe there are more
strictly moderated groups, but they can be *very* strict and you can get
banned if the moderator/owner doesn't like what you are saying (even if it
is on-topic).

I participate in both types of forums, just as I participate in different
types of "live" communities. I've learned to cope with both & tune out
(filter, killfile, ignore) what I don't want to hear or discuss.

Hiya Bill,
What you are asking for has just been done. Maybe you would like to try
http://j0j0.zerolimit.net/dmsp/forum/index.php?act=idx
It is a moderated mailing list.

Alan, it is doubtful he is looking for a group, rather he
wants to sell webhosting, take a look at his google
archives. This is the first "different" sales pitch. A
slight variation on the spiel is shown between a business
ads newsgroup where he claimed adult websites not allowed,
in other ng's he says adult websites welcomed.

Not a problem Bill, we'll all shape up or ship out. Thosee who stay will
make sure they perform to your unique specification.

I suppose I *could* say "Well f.ck off" then, but being a pleasant sort of
person, I couldn't do that, so I'll leave it for someone else. Someone is
SURE to btw.

I take it you were thrown out with the weeds from your last place?

Wow a change to your usual sales pitch.

Guy,
I was grumbling to myself when I read your post but I have to say that
the thing you do best is to remind us all how serious this disease is.
Many of us forget that.

Thank you for taking your time to put yourself out there so honestly.
