Does anyone know if there is a substitute that can be
used in place of eggs. I know some are allergic to the
egg yellow however I know of someone who is allergic to
the " Egg White" and they were talking recipe's last
night at Christmas Dinner and certain food's that were
liked could not be made because of needing eggs.

Egg beaters won't due as they are made from the
"whites" of the egg. If my memory is correct it was
"Cheesecake" that they were talking about not being
able to make because of needing the whites.

TIA

You are complaining because i was the first one who gave the OP a link
to answer her question, and then because she's too dull to use Google,
and too stupid to know who has the CORRECT answers, she wastes her time
thanking someone who chimes in with ZERO information??  gimme a break!

actually, if you weren't so biased, you'd see that I was given grief by

Dave, you werent denigrated for no reason. You felt the need to attack
what i had said to Diana, this is a support group.  I was being there
for her emotionally,  I knew others could help her.  You start the fire
and now you want to extinguish it and blame others,  Please take
personal responsibility for your actions and your words. You were acting
very nastily and now you dont like it.

You are what I call an instigator.

It works for you otherwise you wouldnt do it.  you are a misery and I am
sorry you are so filled with anger.

peace be with you.  If you dont have peace of mind what do you have?

I forget to address the above statement.  I'm not angry, I'm bemused by
the pathetic group of misfits that cruise this newsgroup.  There are
whiners, idiots, liars, and foul mouthed losers on this pathetic excuse
of a newsgroup.  You all get angry when I point that out, don't you?

What is it that makes this NG so nasty?  ANSWER:  a core group of like
minded individuals (cowards) who think that their longevity somehow
gives them the right of "ownership".  They support one anther's bad
behavior.  Witness the people who forgive RK her foul language,
meanness, and unbelievable posts of fantasy.  Facts mean nothing to her
and therefore, since you support her, facts mean nothing to you.  You
are complicit by condoning her behavior; or Mack's.  Just because they
have "befriended" you, doesn't mean you should allow them to run
roughshod over others.  That's why I have no respect for the likes of
you and the other regulars on this news group.

That film was brilliant and cost little to produce. The 1978 remake couldn't
touch it.

It pops up on Turner Classic Movies every now and then. The next screening
is Dec. 31, 8 pm Easterm, followed by Jan. 1, 6 pm. Eastern.

I agree, the original is a classic -- it's the one that gave me nightmares!
(I guess I wasn't cut out for horror films....).

I'm not going to see the remake they made before (didn't even know there was
one) or the one they're making now (the one my friend is an extra in, though
I hope her scene(s) don't get cut).

I didnt realize Uncle was talking about King Kong,  I thought he meant
Invasion of the Body Snatchers.  I saw the new King Kong and except for
its length thought it was wonderful.  It could have been a half hour
shorter.  When it was over, there wasnt a dry eye in the theater. It was

The idea behind "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" is thought to be a metaphor
for the McCarthy period in the 50's.

Some parents have said it's really a metaphor for what happens to their kids
when they become teenagers.  :)

Diana, in the movie Invasion of the Body Snatcher, there were these
large pods that came from outer space.  INside of them were clones of
people who already existed,  When the pods were ready, the real people
were eliminated and the pods took over.  They tried to take over the
world.

It's true that Google is a very useful tool.  However, nothing can beat an
answer from a person you're already familiar with who you know won't steer
you wrong.  As you may or may not know, my daughter and my mom both have
food allergies.  Learning to cook things in different ways has been at
times, a real challenge.

I can't tell you how many horrid loaves of bread I've made using recipes
from the Internet or given to me by people on other newsgroups.  People I
was not familiar with, but swore they always ate this bread and that it was
good.  So even though there is a celiac newsgroup and a newsgroup for people
with food allergies, I'd take the answer of a person here whose posts I have
been reading for a long time, rather than that of an unknown person on
another newsgroup.  Or a website trying to sell me some product.

Diana, some recipes, like cheesecake, can use unflavored gelatin instead
of eggs for a binder.

This link has substitutions for allergic folks if you scroll down the

Both my mom and daughter are allergic to eggs.  Some foods can be made with
egg substitute, but some can not.  Ener-G makes an egg replacer in a
powdered form.  You add water to it.  You can use this in baked goods, but
would not work to replace eggs in an omelets.  It merely takes the texture
of the eggs but is not nutritionally the same.  I have used this in some
things that call for only white or only yolk.  Sometimes it works.
Sometimes it doesn't.  If you need only the yolks, you might also have to
add some yellow food coloring to make up for the lack of yellow color.

You can also use a mix of flax meal and water in some things.  This will
give a nutty taste and I think it works best in things like nut or zucchini
bread.

I should add that if you want to buy the Ener-G, look for it in one of the
larger grocery stores that sells health type foods or even a health food

Vinegar is a good substitute for eggs in cakes - I have made this
substitution a number of times (because of running out of eggs) and I
