Recently I have been having problems controlling by Blood Glucose.  I am a
Pump user.

My family doctor was discussing the problems with me and had me take a
Insulin autoantibody blood test.

I received a copy of the test and it show that I was high with a 19 U/mL
The reference range is less than 1.

I have not talked to my family doctor about it, and my appointment with my
Endocrinologist is a couple of weeks from now.

Does anyone know what this test might be telling me.

Thanks
Bob

Are you newly diagnosed or a long-termer? Have you recently stopped
using a particular insulin then started back on it? It has been
mentioned that can cause a high antibody count, and make insulin
reaction far slower. How's your reaction to the rapid insulin you're
using?

You may want to post your query on news:misc.health.diabetes
There are posters there that are very knowledgeable when it comes to
antibodies.

It suggests that you are allergic to the insulin you are using in your
pump.    Jim Dumas,  for example,  finds that he is allergic to Novolog but
not to Humalog.

Jim has looked into this subject in depth.   Hopefully, he'll answer this
"ping" and comment on the subject.

Hi oldal4865

Thanks for the information.  Looks like I might need to try humolog as I use
novalog too.  It seems like after I use a specific insulin for awhile I
start having trouble with it.  I was having problems with NPH and regular
prior to going on the pump.  Everything was great for awhile and then I
started having problems again.

Although I had never though of the term "allergic", I have been thinking
that maybe after using a specific insulin for awhile, my system starts
fighting it and it becomes less effective.

Again thanks for the response and hopeful Jim Dumas sees the thread.
