A newsreport was featuring the theft of goods from
retail stores.  They mentioned diabetic products.
Seems a lot of the theft is organized and one outlet
for these items is E-bay.    There ill be more
effort to get better enforcement in this area.

I am very reluctant to inject a medicine in
myself from an untractable source.

We hd an incident in Houston where a
"supplier" was selling Flu vaccine
programs to companies.  Allegedly
they used pure water.

The huge profits in medicine is
attracting all sorts of scams.

Hi Guy,
I get my insulin from Kroger Pharmacy and my diabetic supplies delivered to
my home from a place like a MedMart type pharmacy.

Sometimes I wonder about your sanity.  I use ebay twice daily to find
good deals on sticks.  At least once a week, I do a search for insulin
on ebay.  I have yet to see any form of insulin offered on ebay.  Can
you post the URL for the so called newsreport?

I'm surprised eBay is allowing some of that stuff listed there.  I'm not
sure about
the reservoirs but I'm very sure you need a prescription to buy infusion
sets.  --

I wonder if this is a person from the pumpers list who's just gathered old
supplies
they give away to those who are "needy" pumpers. (folks who have lost their
insurance
or are between jobs) and figure they can make a fast buck for christmas.

This item has been removed from eBay (at least when I
looked.)  I also buy strips there to supplement my
own supply.  Thus far, no problems with quality.

Thanks RK, for the information.  I don't use insulin
so I have never checked that out.

The listing had 2 days left on it, so ebay apparently removed it.

the infusion sets and reservoirs sold seperately are useless to anyone
who doesn't have the other.  also they are no different than buying
syringes in regards to purpose, however in regards to abuse by drug
users their is no worry so the regulations for that aspect is not a
consideration by anyone with a brain.  the prescription bit would be
for insurance coverage and legal liabilities.

or they switched pumps because of an upgrade and ended up with a bunch
of extras that don't fit the new model and can't get the credit for
returning them that they want if minimed will even accept them as a
return for a credit.

Thank you, Mack.  It's true that an upgrade can leave you with extra
sets that don't fit the new pump, but may be useful to someone with the
older pumps--

Regs can be so odd sometimes.
When I was buying iv sets for my dog from a vet supply house, I needed a
prescription for the Ringer's solution, but not for the needles themselves,
nor for the tubing & stuff.

When I read Guy's posting this morning, I did a ebay search for
insulin and came up with a couple references to pump, so I did a
search for diabetic pump and came up with the above.  I figured you
Mack, or David would be interested in it.  I don't remember ever
seeing infusion sets on ebay before.  Interesting though.

thx... I just got 5 boxes from Animas. my insurance pays the bulk and my
co-pay is $35 for the 5 boxes.  - that will last me 5 months.  the infusion
set
i'm using now is a newer one out.  i need no external inserter with it, it's
all self contained, the needle, tubing and inserter.  I pre-fill my
reservoirs
grab one when needed and the infusion set container... I can easily stick
3 set changes in my purse without taking up much space.  --- I can now
do a set change at work in the bathroom if needed (yes, they are super
clean or I wouldn't).  Last time I think I checked they were $125 for 10 at
regular price.  -- not many pumpers use this infusion set yet.  I'll never
change back.  It works with mimimed pumps also.
