Why Test?

When you start this game you test to find  your
status.   The you setup a program to control
your eating.  Then you go through a ritual
to find what meds you need and work
to establish control. The window is your meter
and you use as a tool.  You find what is required
to establish good control.

You continue to test as needed. It may be few or
many tests.  It is not some ritual but a need thing.

I do have to test a lot.  My friend tests only a couple
of times a day since he has reduced insulin and he
controls his eating well.  I have a very difficult
time with no insulin and no low blood sugar
safety net.

You test as needed which you will be able
to determine without some ritual routine. It
may vary when things as infections are
present.

The important thing is you do enough to
keep control.  The cost and pain of complications
is a lot more  than a few test strips or a few finger
pricks. Quit slopping down the food--find a new
hobby.

I won't put words in his mouth. I like to think that Guy is commenting on
large threads.
I feel somewhat defensive about Guy. I don't know him and I'm sure he
doesn't know me.
He reminds me of my father. I know from reading his posts that he's lived
the nightmare that awaits any of us if we don't believe in taking charge of
our own condition.
If you've been recently dxed T1 or T2 you might want to search out his posts
and read a real life account.
He makes me pay attention.
As far as I'm concerned he gets a pass on any minor "netiquette" faux-pas.
I happy he's posting again.
Listen up!

You are the one being patronising.

How about some helpful posts in the managment of diabetes for a
change?

Annette
Why am I wasting bandwidth? I've had my say. That's it.

you haven't been paying attention if you think I haven't made any
contributions on the 2 DM NG's.

I thanked  t2 for giving me some background and complimented him for not
cursing (that was HIS comment at the end of HIS post).  So why are you
calling me patronizing??

No, you did.

So tell me, what did you think of Frank's post re the merits of
post-prandial blood tests?

Is he "preaching" too?

Annette, he is a Type D diabetic. I don't know if he thinks he is
"cute" attacking Guy, but he obviously is socially maladjusted. He has
potential, but until he starts acting like a real grown up, into the
KF he goes. JMO!

Anyway...onto the subject....here's an article I posted before...have a
close look at page 36 in the first link.

after reading that page about the poorly conducted studies I can say
without a doubt that I am very glad not to rely on UK doctors and
researchers for my diabetic info and care.

After I spat a few chips at Dave, I took a bg reading.  Pretty low,
close to a hypo.  I really am more tolerant when my bg is better!
Too low or too high, and I *do* get "snippy".  Not really bad
tempered, but rather easily irritated.   (That's MY view of it, not
necessarily those of an observer).

Ask my husband!  LOL.  When he starts saying "Yes dear" to anything
I say, it's time to test my bg.  ;-)

Annette, there couldn't be a NG anywhere else on the net (except m.h.d.)
where folks will be more understanding of hypo grumpiness.  I certainly
don't hold a grudge.  Just remember, I might get low some time when
sitting at the keyboard... :)

Today, I'm not so sure.  When I wrote that stuff, it seemed to me
you were sniping at Guy and his posts.
Heh, so I did the same, and sniped right back at you.

I don't think Guy gives an ants left testicle either way.

So I'm happy to forget the whole thing.

OK?

Annette

why is it always the 'left' one that gets all the attention?

I think I have missed some of this thread, but I have seen enough to know
that I was where u seem to be about 12 months ago.....and I am talking to
bay area dave here.
David, I have made some mistakes and enemies on here. I didn't do it
deliberately, but I was newly diagnosed, had researched the net about DM and
thought I knew it all. Then I started to read the posts properly.
There are a lot of people who have a lot to offer you in the way of support
and help.
Guy has dealt with, and suffered with too I think, this disease for a long
time, he has a lot of advice to offer. Of course he isnt the only one. There
are lots of others too.
I no longer shout any more, I have a long way to go and look at any advice
from any quarter.
The anger will quell but it always stays with you. You just need to learn to
control it.

Oh and on another note I made 5% club twice in a row just for info. 5.9 on
last 2 Hba1c, maybe only just there but it still says 5. LOL

I get along with Guy.  You are undoubtably swayed by Annette's mistaken
idea that I wasn't sincere when I responded to T2.  give it a rest.

Hey Bri, Stick around, there is always a lot more to learn. I think I
may have about 1% partially down, but that may be an overestimation.
Congrats on the great numbers!
