Was perhaps quite fruitful.  She d/ld my meter data for the past 90
days and agrees that I'm trending upwards WRT overall control and
especially FBG.  Before she'll write any insulin orders (for the
benefit of insurance) she wants me on a CGMS for 48 hours.  So next
Friday I'll go in for the hookup, then go back on Monday for analysis.

On other fronts I can have beta-blockers or just deal with the thyroid
stuff.  I'm still disinclined to take beta-blockers, sooo...

On a positive note I lost a whopping 5# since my last visit 8 weeks
ago and my blood pressure is down.  My resting heart rate is up
slightly which is probably attributable to the overactive thyroid.

So I guess it was a fruitful visit.

It's always good to have the answers to our concerns handled by competent
docs.  Sounds like you have a keeper.

overall sounds promising.  congrats on the weight
loss and lowered bp.

you do realize, a CGMS stays _in_ you for 72hrs because
thats when it naturally shuts itself off.  I've had 4 of them
done very interesting results to see what the body does
when you can't monitor it 24/7 like that.

I agree with your doctor, thats a smart thing too do.
Hopefully your insurance will cover the cost of it,
since it's geared mostly for T1 diabetics they may
not pay for it, even if your doctor writes the script
for it.

now you'll have a small understanding of pumpers. :p

Thanks.  I"d be happier with more weight loss, but every little bit
helps.  My BP wasn't especially high, it was a case of "that's normal
if you aren't diabetic but since you are that's high".

Yep, that's exactly why she ordered it.

That's a good point.  I guess I'd better call my provider tomorrow and
enquire.  If history is any sort of guide I'll need until Friday week
to get a straight answer out of their customer service drones.

my doctor laughs at me sometimes when she see's my BP.  Mines
usually 121/70 which is pretty "normal" for non-diabetics.  My old
GP put me on only 5mg of Zestril for kidney protection from as much
asprin as I have to take daily.. well even at 5mg I get very light headed
at the least amount of exercise that I do and usually drop into the 80/50's
with my BP.. so she's reduced it now to 2.5mg which I don't get as bad,
but still have trouble.  Usually on the day's I exercise (which isn't
everyday)
I wont take any Zestril. Then she bitches because she claims taking it only
every so often doesn't do any good.  Well, guess i'm SOL, since the lowest
they make is 2.5mg and I can't stand to take it.

Sad part is... all my labs are good except for my HDL simply because of
my back and now half the rest of my body I cannot exercise much... though
the amount of drugs i'm on definately helps the pain... next month I go back
for a new series of more steriods in my back and hips to help with the
swelling.

Heh... sucks too... folks look at me and i'm fit and trim and wonder WTF is
wrong with me... though, the kid has a point, I do waddle when I hurt and
am out walking <g>

So.... yep, we all have a cross to bear in some way or another being here.

Good.  I'm sure you'll be surprised how you will forget its
there after the first few hours.  I'd resisted pumping up until
I used my first CGMS.

Yeah, I know I need pre-authorization for mine and I'm even a T1.
They've yet to deny me though.  Thankfully they pushed my new pump
through in only 3 days time.  Animas said that was almost the record they'd
seen.

RK, T1.... off to go enjoy a movie for the night.
