After my wife quit smoking about 20 years ago she started gaining
weight she has tried many diets including the low carb diet which
probably worked best but about six weeks ago I saw an ad in the paper
talking about hypnosis and a way to quit smoking, drinking, losing
weight or just improve your lot by positive thinking. She saw it also.
During training you actually learn to hypnotise yourself by putting on
earphones and watching flashing lights and listening to messages that
train you to eat things like grilled fish she is actually walking now
and eventually plans on riding a bicycle many places like I do. For
many of you who are addicted to carbs or feel there is no hope this is
working for my wife and she has went from 217 to about 190 without
going on a starvation diet.this may take a year I really don't know.
This is not about diets but positive thinking and changing your
lifestyle. She bought frozen fish in the commissary today and the only
seafood she has ever eaten is fried shrimp, oysters and lots of bread.
I am completely flabbergasted. This is not free so I will post the
email address or website only if there is any interest. Fortunately I
have never been overweight and when I go in Wal-Mart looking for a pair
of 32 pants all they seem to have is XL and larger, it is the same way
in base exchanges so one has to be first in line when clothes are
recieved. Is Wal-Mart listening?

I found hypnosis to be very good for me in controlling depression.  I was a
lifelong sufferer until undergoing a type of hypnotherapy called Private
Subconciousmind Therapy (or PSH for short) in '99.  No problems with
depression since.

Negatives and positives

If hypnosis helps your wife get healthy, that's great. Positive thinking
is important.

I had an epiphany, you might say, one night at my DM support group when
a young lady shared that she had just tested and had a 405 and was out
of insulin because she'd lost her insurance. I began thinking of my
overweight T2 neighbor who continued to inject larger doses of insulin
as he rejected diet and exercise and ate foods that made me shudder.

My thinking on all this began with something negative--pain, misery and
death--but almost immediately turned to action.  My thinking did not
become  positive until I engaged in regular daily exercise and a new way
of eating and realized I could reshape my body and my life. It took a year.

It is hard to do.  After posting I wondered if this would work for
diabetics as well but I don't see why not. I have a book entitled
Relaxation and Stress Reduction Workbook I need to be studying as I
don't want to try anymore Klonopin or any other anxiety medications as
I have ET (essential tremor) and when I used the word nervous the VA
treated me for anxiety for years.  I had to request to see a
neurologist to get diagnosed with ET.  Mental health(VA) didn't have a
clue.  I have all private doctors now so those days are gone. The
Primidone I am taking is taking care of the shakiness which helps with
the anxiety.

A better way to lose weight.  Push away from the table sooner,  So simple
and none of us do it well enough.

Thanks, I will tell her.  Mack and the webmaster tried to help but the
word Outlook Express(OE) kept coming up and we have Microsoft Outlook
which doesn't seem conducive to free newsgroups or OE, but google came
through for me and I saw the word usenet recently and that may be what
I am using ? Anyway I am signed up again.  I even called Comcast last
week and asked them why I am unable to post messages on OE as a
seconday provider and she gave me the idiot treatment, "Your computer
may be blocked from using this newsgroup, maybe the group is having a
problemo."  I did request to talk to someone that spoke English. Is Guy
still around?

actually you can use both OE and Outlook (The full version) on the
same machine.  Simply do not set an email account in OE.  Just set up
a news account using the comcast news server settings that you got via
email from the webteam.

or you can download any of the free news reader program like free
agent or Xnews.  Both websites have very easy to follow instructions
on how to set them up.

No computer is blocked from reading any newsgroup carried on your ISPs
news server.  Comcast is obviously employing idiots who haven't a clue
what they are talking about.

I could list OE but was unable to post messages although I could read
them.  Comcast is my provider but if I get an error message I don't
know how to fix it.  This usenet thing is working so I will quit
worrying about it and thanks. I like it better.
