I was DXd T2 seven years ago. I have "progressed" from diet, to diet and
pills (glicazide & metformin), to Lantus and metformin. Initial lantus was
20u/day taken on waking, am now "enjoying" 56u lantus/day built up over
about a year. Additionally taking blood pressure, heart tablets and statin.

Since I have lurked DM newsgroups, I discovered other folks claimed benefits
of eschewing carbs and testing; and upped my testing to 7/day (fasting,
pre-prand, 2hr post-p & bedtime)  and severely cut back on carbs (they
really do spike me) (even AllBran).

Following a "Fit4Life" GP referral to my local sports centre have started
exercising a couple of months ago; 3 times a week, 2 hrs/session (bicycle,
treadmill, rowing m/c, a thing called a schwimmer and 3x10 reps on two types
of pecs m/c) and a couple of brisk(ish) walks (2-3 miles) in the park.
Waiting to see
the lbs rolling off <LOL> and the inches off the waist. <ROFL> Couple of
months ago I was ill and couldn't keep anything down for a week - weight
dropped from 95kg to 90kg, still hovering 90kg.

Changing over to low carb meals has reduced my 2hr pp spikes especially
after breakfast and brought them down to less than 7 mmol although pre lunch
or pre dinner bgs have occasionally dropped to as low as 3.3.

Visited endo yesterday, HbA1c down to 6.8 from  last 3 of 7.6/7.0/7.5. Total
chol 4.8 (HDL 1.26). Yayy! Yippee! GP pleased, Endo pleased, me pleased.

Pats on backs to all good folk out there who's advice to others and other
useful comments have helped me "see the light".

A common mistake that people made when trying to design something completely
foolproof was to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

All going the right way. Just the fine tuning needed now, so well done
that man.

These observations underscore the need for the 2PD-OMER Approach which
is a WOE that forsakes calorie counting:

You may hear me speak about the 2PD-OMER Approach in person and meet
others who have been using this WOE here:

You may also choose to have me speak to your group or organization about
the 2PD-OMER Approach in person for the usual and customary speaker's
fee of US$30,000.00 made as a tax-deductible contribution to
TheWellnessFoundation.com (it remains my choice to not profit personally
from the 2PD-OMER Approach):

<spamming rubbish snipped>

To quote a squaddie after his parade was inspected by the Duke of Edinburgh
"He stopped for a couple of words. I did not understand either of them"

I wonder if  "Snake oil " Chung would understand them either
