Hi all,
Had a root canal on a molar back in February, got crown put on in
March. Since then, I have minor lingering soreness in that tooth -
mainly when I bite. Its not that bothersome, but I am worried that it
is there since I believe following a root canal I really shouldn't be
feeling anything from that tooth. When the endodontist did the work,
he told me that a piece of the file he used broke off inside the tooth
and he couldn't retrieve it. he told me its probably nothing to worry
about, but if it ends up bothering me further work can be done to deal
with it. Is the soreness I am feeling possibly related to this?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Might be a cracked root
Might be lingering discomfort due to inflammation
Might be TFO secondary to isometric bruxism and clenching
Might be something else.

All true. I'd start by checking the bite from all grinding angles.

On a tough case you won't fid the interference until you take a set of study
models in your hands and manipulate them gently until you find all possible
lateral bracing positions. It won't work if the models are on an
articulator.
