First off I respect a professional opinion but I was bait and switched.
I asked for the guy who did my previous root canals and the let this other
guy perform one on my upper #16. I knew I was in trouble when he didn't
numb the nerve and started drilling. What a jackass. After flipping out
he finally does it. He starts grinding away and without saying a word put's
in a temp filling and says the tooth can't be saved. I have a feeling
he is full of sh.t. I can find no reference on google or anywhere on the
internet about this happening unless the tooth is broken. I'm compelled to
get a second opinion before yanking the tooth. The tooth is not cracked or
fractured and was not even abscessed, just hot and cold sensitivity and some
aching on and off. What good reason is there for doing the root canal if
any?  I guess my question is in what cases can a root canal not done? This
seems to be impossible to answer on the internet. Every thing I look up
explains that a root canal is to SAVE a decayed tooth and even beyond. If I
am wrong fine but I just get the feeling he was not up to the job. I would
like to hear others opinions.

Thanks!

Get a second opinion, preferrably from an endodontist (root canal
therapy specialist).
