I've read in lots of places that a persistent metallic taste in the mouth is
a sign of a leaking filling. All other considerations aside, that is ruling
out medications, vitamin deficiencies, hallucinations about mercury and
amalgam poisoning.
I know I have a amalgam that is leaking, the repair is scheduled for the
week after next, so I'm wondering if this taste in my mouth is a sign that I
need to bump up the repair date to ASAP or whether there is no real
correlation between leaking fillings and metallic tastes.

Amalgam does not leak! Amalgam is not liquid.
You do NOT need to bump up your repair date.
You have been listening to too many amalgam freaks.
BTW, who told you you had a amalgam that is leaking?
Are you being told you need all your amalgam fillings replaced?
Who told you that? AND why do you believe them?
Your mind if playing tricks on you. You are under the spell of the
"Anti-amalgamists"....
Next thing you know, you'll be contacted by people who tell you your
intestine and colon is lined with encrusted matter full of toxins.
The they will try to sell you something to remove that old encrusted
matter. Or they will suggest you need a hose up your rear to clean it
all out.
Beware, these people are the cousins of the anti-amalgamists.

Alright, so maybe I should clear up a term.
by "leaking" I mean a filling that has decay under it.

Metal taste can be a side effect of some medications. I had a sleeping pile
a while back that gave me a metal taste the next day.
Please talk to your pharmacist about all the meds you take. Pharmacist are
more likely to know this kind of thing than doctors.
