Well, you can try one of the Retirement In Mexico forums.
However, the dentists that the people on those forums recommend often
charge a lot more than your standard Mexican dentists. So you might
get a 30% better price instead of a 100% better price. But you stand a
better chance of it coming out right.
I have relatives in Mexico and so let me tall you this.
I know that my relative got lousy bridgework and lousy crowns in
Mexico and they all need to be re-done.
This can and does happen here, as well, but it seems to happen more in
Mexico.
I have heard not just one or two but many stories of Mexican dentists
and this is in Guadalajara, a very upscale city.
All I can tell you is that if I wanted to save money on implants I
would go to another country. I've heard good things about Costa Rica
but then you'll have to make a number of trips and the plane fare will
eat up your savings. Think of it as a "free vacation".
Otherwise, I don't know. You MIGHT find a good implant dentist in
Tijuana but all I can say is, Check them out THOROUGHLY. Talk to at
least 3 people who had their implants done there before trusting them.
Implants can go wrong and can really cause nightmarish problems if
there are mistakes or even not mistakes but just difficult situations.
Under the best of circumstances it's a somewhat less than "totally
safe" procedure. By that I mean that complications do arise.
Would I do it in Tijuana? Or Ensenada?
I'd look for one that MANY Americans use AND that at least 3 Americans
can vouch for as having done their IMPLANTS which are a lot more
complicated than just regular dental work. You have to be a
periodontist and oral surgeon to do implants, it's not that easy to do
them right.
If you can find a great dentist in TJ and do have it done there,
successfully, PLEASE post that info here - I may follow you down
there! (But I'm skeptical...)
