Plastic Bridge - How long can it be left in?

Hi, I had a root extraction and a 3 unit temporary plastic bridge on
Friday fitted.  My dentist did say he wanted to get a semi-perminant
solution in asap, and I was due back on wednesday.  Unfortnately my
grandmother has become seriously ill and is asking to see me.  I have
had to cancel my appointment on Wed, and they cannot see me for two
weeks now.

I just wondered, will it cause any complications wearing the plastic
bridge for two weeks?  Just wondered cos he said he wanted to get the
other one in quickly.  I'm a bit worried.

Shouldn't be a problem if it fits reasonably well.  If you're out of
town, you may consider getting some temporary cement from your dentist
or pharmacy in case it falls out.

Yeah its actually a really good fit, even before cementing it he had
trouble taking it off after testing it!
I have bought some cement from the pharmacy.  Hopefully it will be ok
then.

Sometimes the plastic will wear down a bit and the teeth will shift,
reducing the amount of space for the bridge to fit into

I inferred that the impression for the permanent restoration hasn't
been taken.  In any case, the time frame is a couple of weeks, not months.

Haven't you see patients who lost a temporary for one week, and you had to
grind over a mm off the crown to get it to fit?

    Yes, occasionally--but not uniformly.

What's a temporary?
