I just noticed that my front tooth is two toned. The top third is dark
yellow while the bottom 2/3 is light yellow. What the heck happened?
Is my tooth slowly dying? I'm not experiencing any pain at all. I was
at the dentist last month and he didn't mention anything. It seems to
be a very recent development.

Compare it to the other front tooth. If it is darker, have it checked.
However, it is normal to have a gradation of color--darker near the
gumline, lighter near the cutting edge of the incisor.

My other tooth is a veneer, thanks to an elbow during a basketball
game. The darker area is much darker than the bottom 2/3. I did a
search here and it hit me that I had forgotten to mention that for
years I had a hairline across this tooth. So from my gum to this line
is where my tooth is markedly darker. I ran across my "dentin" in my
search, I wonder if the enamel in that part has disappeared. For
years, I could see the line, but never noticed a huge difference in
color.
Anyway, the reason why I noticed was that I was getting ready to use a
whitening strip...for now, should I hold off? I used one today and it
did not cause sensitivity in that tooth (it did in another tooth
though).
Will definitely call the dentist tomorrow.

Good idea. The pulp tissue in this tooth could have been damaged
at the same time as the other incisor and simply not show symptoms
until years later.
