Dartos - 16 Aug 2007 23:09 GMT > You get what you pay for, sometimes you get MORE ! Once in a life time thrill (most likely anyway).
However, if you go back to T-ball and add up all of the costs for cleats, uniforms, gloves, bats, baseballs, plus the gas to go to all of the games, the ROI probably isn't that good (cheap college education helps).
"Priceless" still describes it well.
Best wishes, D
BTW, this was a wood bat league.
Amatus Cremona - 22 Aug 2007 19:18 GMT > BTW, this was a wood bat league. ????
I must be out of the loop. :'(
Dartos - 22 Aug 2007 22:01 GMT Guess that means you thought baseball is usually played with wood bats today? <G>
Almost all youth leagues through high school and college play with aluminum or composite bats. Wood is for the pros. However, there are a few leagues and college conferences who do play with wood.
Aluminum was allowed at first because of the money saved in replacing broken bats. Aluminum bats have gotten very expensive themselves and have an advantage over wood in the ease and velocity of hitting a baseball. So much so, that for college players, it is more dangerous for the pitchers and infielders.
Wood bats have a smaller 'sweet spot' to get the most power, and it takes more perfect contact to get hits and especially home runs.
My personal opinion is that anything beyond high school should use wood bats, period (but nobody really cares what I think anyway<G>).

You are excused. You are the art/music/poetry dude, and I am not. I certainly respect that.

Amatus Cremona - 23 Aug 2007 11:23 GMT Nooooooo,,,,,,,,,,,,, I hate poetry. I figure if you have something to say, you should just say it pain and simple.

I'm from there originally, and my mother is an alumnus of Park from back when it was a college. And congrats!
