Watched one of the vids on oralsurg com

The subject was on elevators, periotomes (?), luxators, and something else.

There was some set of instruments that the surgeon liked best
one of them was the 'spade'.
Now can't remember the name of the instruments.

Anyone ?

Will look at the vid again if necessary...

Hu-Friedy and Karl Schumacher both make periotomes.

PT1 and PT2 are the numbers on the Hu-Friedy instruments.

The PT1 looks a lot like a Hollenbeck carver and is used
by rocking downward into the perio ligament space to loosen
a tooth.

The PT2 is used in a similar fashion, but has larger tips.

I don't use either very much, but on a rock-hard jaw with
large roots, the PT1 can really be a help to get a tooth
loose without cutting on bone with a handpiece.  Not nearly
as fast though.

I am always reconstruct some of them personnaly using small hammer and
rotary instruments.
If the steel quality is ok Its better to readapt the instruments in
personnal hands :))

Good suggestions.

Re-watched the OSvid, the instruments are called Proximators.
Made by Karl Schumacher.

There is a web site. Kinda pricey if you ask me, still may get
a set maybe in a couple of months.
