I've heard stories on the radio about people traveling to a good hospital
in Thailand for medical procedures that they can't afford to have done in
the US, e.g. paying $10,000 instead of $100,000. I made some inquiries on
sci.med and learned that, even for a colonoscopy, it can be cheaper to
travel to Thailand to have it done, read, etc. What I'd like to know is
whether anyone has traveled to Thailand to have dental work done, which
can easily cost more than a colonoscopy. If so, I'm interested in knowing
the kind of work they had done, what it cost (including transportation from
the US), how long they had to stay in Thailand, how satisfied they are with
what was done and what opinions (if any) their dentists in the US might have
expressed about the caliber of the work that was done.

Seeing a dentist who is local to you and readily available
if you have problems or complications is more valuable
than any money that you may (or may not) save in Thailand.

A wise SMD sage has said:
"You get what you pay for, sometimes you get less."

You are *more* likely to get less <maybe much less>
in a country that is not native to you.

I have seen average of 2-3 patients a month got their dental work done
in Thailand. Most of them have severe gum problems untreated, and
newly made crowns that now need extraction. My recommendation to my
patient was " Dear patient you have pay $2000 in Thailand instead of
$20,000 in my office a year ago. You pay $2000 to much for your
treatment, and now it will cost you $40K for me to fix your teeth"
Most of them went back to Thailand for full mouth extraction and a set
of denture........which I will remake in about few months.
It might save you in the short term.....but it often cost you more in
the long term. Some time.....it can not fixed when the case is
compromised by others.

When I did General dentistry, it wasn't Thailand, it was mexico, people
would go over the boarder to have something done cheap, and all I could
say, is that I was so suprised everytime on how horrid the work was,
some I recommended they remove ASAP.

another things the differencess apart from complication are very big.
Seemingly in Poland cost is less but I dont see any reason for patient to
come here becouse really good qulaity cost almost some . The difference
could be like 20% maximum

Dont believe in touristic medicine Its very unproffessional and tricky
The qulaity and really treatment cost in every countries
