Hi I am having Oral Sugery and am also eating Ginger because it
soothes my stomach. Do I need to stop eating the crystallized ginger
before surgery and for how long? I need 9 teeth out and am not taking
any ibupfofen nor aspirin and limiting Vit E to 800 IU a day. I will
inform the Oral Surgeon about my ginger use. The ginger also helps
with the toothache and infection I have in my mouth. Also on
antibiotics and a muscle realxer because of some muslce spasms but I
will only be taking this for 4 days and a week prior to surgery will
not need to take it. Just looking for some input.
Thanks.

I'd call your surgeon and ask him these questions, now. Why not?

First, are you certain that you need all 9 teeth pulled? About 20 years ago
a dentist advised me to have all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out. I went to
another dentist for a second opinion. It was that I should have only one
removed.  I still have the other 3 and have just had another recommendation
from a different dentist to have all 3 removed. I am now looking for a
second opinion again.

Do a Google search under===>  "blood clotting" +ginger   <== copy and paste
everything between the arrows.
There you you will find your post just above and thousands of others.

However, visit the following link and you will find that ginger is not
listed by the American Society of Anesthesiologists:

Good luck with your search and dental work.

Ginger is a very good anti-inflammatory herb
