TMJ pain from braces?

I started ortho treatment from August 2005.

Starting from sometime in March 2007 when my ortho started to correct
my bite, I had TMJ pain on the left side.  It persisted for some 1 or
2 months.  Some time in April, this pain is gone on the left side, but
soon I started to have TMJ pain on the right.

Normally, I don't feel any pain, but the pain is very bad if I yawn.
Chewing/biting does not seem to cause the pain.

Is this from the ortho treatment?  Any big concern?

Thanks.

It is from muscle spasm.  You probably clench at night.

OK, thanks.  So, you think this TMJ pain has nothing to do with my
braces?  I also quite often have neck pains from stress.  I never know
if I grind/clench teeth at sleep.

How do I treat this TMJ pain?

Thanks.

Hi, thanks.  So you do not think this TMJ pain has anything to do with
my braces?  I also have neck pain quite often. I think it is from
stress.

I don't know if I clench/grind at sleep.

Any idea about how to treat the TMJ pain?  Thanks.

You could start with the fact that TMJ is an anatomical term
and not a diagnosis...

You're supposed to say 'welcome back' *first*.  Then start your
lecture.

Where's your manners boy?

Thanks to the welcoming committee for the big "Welcome back!" You "guys"
are silly.  So... just so you know that I'm not ignoring your posts... I
am back home but have hardly been *at* home since.  Busy, busy, busy.
Whew!

And about that "TMJ" thing... you're so correct in beginning at the
beginning!  There is no such "diagnosis" called "TMJ".  But, I think the
person who started the thread had a complaint of "TMJ pain" ... which is
not the same!  Right?

If the person wanted to have a discussion... he should have piped in by
now.  So I figure ... why bother going beyond what Newbie and D have
done?  ;-)

theda???  Is there a letter missing?  The answer to your question
depends upon "theda" defined.  Could it be that an "r" is missing?

I'm curious about what your orthodontist says about this pain and "how
to treat" it.  If I missed a post with this info, I'm sorry.  I've been
offline for a week.  Could you either repost or reply to my question?

Thanks,
