I'm in my mid fifties and just has my upper right wisdom tooth
extracted ( number one if you count). It has been 3 days since the
extraction and absolutely no problems . It bled for a couple of hours
the day of the extraction, but there was no pain (thank you midol)

The entire process took about 3 minutes : numb the area extract the
tooth. I've read so many problems here I thought I might mention that
the procedure sometimes occurs without problem for those of you facing
the decision

I suspect it will be a week or two before it heals, so I'll baby the
area until then

BTW, pay no mind to the medical release form. I'm not sure , but I
believe sub clause 3 said the dentist could feed my head into a wood
chipper if  he deemed it necessary for the proper tooth extraction. The
release form was more terrible than the procedure

Very true.  I removed a couple of teeth on a nice lady today.  It 4-5 times
longer to review the release form, than it did to remove the teeth.

When you extract a lawyer from a release form (using large
pliers) do you use anaesthetic?

Thanks for the rare good word. I've had all four stupid teeth
out, though not on the same date. And not even on the same year.
One slid out, the other fought like crazy. The other two were
some where in the middle range of dificulty.

Stupid tooth: A tooth way in the back which serves little
purpose, and needs to be extracted by a dentist.

There was a big disconnect between peopIe I asked and internet advice.
The people I knew who had WT extraction had no problems, all I could
find on the net was talk of problems.

The disconnect is not unexpected, you go to the net to search fro help
with a problem. The first clue (besides the advice of friends) was
when the oral surgeon set up the appointment and said he'd do it the
first visit

It would help if there were statistics somewhere on number of patients
who return for resolution of problems. I realize, form a clinical
standpoint, theis varies with age and condition, but it would be nice
to have some statistical measure of  how serious, or not, the
extraction might be.
