It could take 2-3 days before you see a notable reduction in the
swelling with antibiotics. If on the other hand the swelling worsens,
you develop fever or difficulty breathing you should visit your
dentist ASAP.

difficulty breathing, i'd go to the ER. your general dentist may not
be trained to place an air way.

This just happened to my sister, and she called back the dentist after
2 days, with her swelling/inflammation worse and a lot of pain.
He increased the dose of antibiotics.
Inflammation like that can be very dangerous, I'd make an emergency
call to the dentist for a stronger antibiotic after 2 days if it isn't
at least somewhat better.
Good luck!

There should be quicker actual treatment and not so much dependence
upon antibiotics to 'hold the patient over' until a 'convenient'
time.
