I had two pre-molars extracted a few days ago. One of them was so hard
to come out, I didn't know what the dentist did, but the resulting
hole was so big, even part of the gum on the side was missing too.
So when I pull up my lips, I see a triangular chunk of gum missing
from the side. Will the gum 'grow' back and fill the gap?

Yes.  It may take a while for the "divet" to fill in though--patience!
