To make a long story short..I went to dentist for cleaning..and
Imentioned a possbile problem with a tooth.  Lower tooth third one
from the back I beleive he said it #30.  It felt like I had a popcorn
hull stuck way down in it and there was pain on the side of my jaw if
pushed there.  He xrayed..said I had a root canal gone bad.  Sent me
to specialist..he looked at xray..poked my tooth and gums a couple of
times..and said it had to come out.  I was shocked. and pleaded with
him to save my tooth.  He said sorry.. I needed it out and if I wanted
I could always get an implant or partial.  Well I want my tooth!! Do I
need a second opinon or is this true ? If it matters I'm a 59 year old
female with all my teeth..Lots of crowns..but all my teeth.  Thanks..

If the root is truly cracked there is no way to fix it, sorry.

If you are unsure of the opinions that you have received
then by all means get a third opinion.
Preferably from an endodontist.

And no offense to the poster, but losing a tooth is not as bad
as losing a hand, eye, foot, leg, etc.

It can be replaced.  You will not die.  You will not have a
disability.

Teeth with crowns and/or root canals have had significant damage
over the years and are not always going to make it to the grave
with you.

Hang in there, you will be OK.

Get it out. There is a chance you could die from a bad root canal as
it forms a abcess which travels to your heart, liver or brain.
