Palatal Expander

I've had my upper palatal expander in for 4 months now and i just got
my lower one put in, its impossible to say alot of word and theres no
place for my tongue. What im wondering is can i have the upper
expander removed and have a retainer put in its place to keep the
expansion?

Ask the person who's doing the treatment. I'm sure you're not the first
person to complain to about it. That person is the only one qualified to
answer your question as they know what the treatment plan is. We do not.
