letsconnect - 19 Apr 2007 02:09 GMT Sounds interesting. How much of an impact would Botox therapy for parafunction have on the ability to physically convey emotions? (I've noticed that those having elective Botox therapy don't usually have a huge need for this in their everyday lives - just wondering how it might impact on others).

The URL does not work right now. You may wish to double check it. I noticed my email took a few times before it "went through" as well today.
I am interested in the DVD.

I've taken the actual course from Blumenfeld and Katz, the DVD is not enough you should get hands on experience with this stuff although for people that took the course the dvd can be a refresher. Problem with Botox (R) and dentistry is that patients do not yet expect to get it from their dentist and they come in with pre-expected ideas such as more botox/dollar vs what they can actually get to solve their problem. Women especially start going crazy over the stuff its like watching them buy purses at a department store. Unreal. Also the stuff is sold right now only by Allergan and it is darn expensive. As a result there is not much profit margin in it because so many people are doing it and the stuff is expensive. To make up for it you need to have a large volume of clients wanting this stuff so you can buy the botox in quantities. Problem with quantity is you have an expiration date on the vials and once you mixed it you need to use it up within the next 2 days or you are losing $$ unless you charge by the vial. Even if you offer to sell the rest of it at a competitive price by pulling people of the street, as a dentist you can only use it for TMJ patients and if the dental board found out you are using your excess botox for off label wrinkle removing, you can get into a lot of trouble.

Dr. Vasserman,
Dr. Blumenfeld is no longer working with Dr. Katz and lectures exclusively through TMD Courses Inc. with Dr. Boyd.
With that said, this DVD is brand new and I am not aware of any other DVD's available of Dr. Blumenfeld teaching his botox course. I am the only videographer he works with and this DVD is only available through my media outlet www.mxthree.tv and TMD Courses website (www.tmdcourses.com)
It is true that the hands-on portion is what makes the 'live' course a success. However, everything a doctor could want to know about using botox in their clinic is contained in this DVD. Injection technique and protocol is covered in detail as is mixing and dosing. A doctor could easily view this video and begin administering botox therapeutic. We have included one live patient injection series for TMD (trigeminally mediated disorders) on this DVD set as well.
It is not for everyone, but if you are considering whether it is something you want to do or not, obtaining the course DVD and viewing it ahead of time is probably money well spent. There is no reason to think that after watching this course you could not do the botox injections for those conditions which fall within the dental practice act and which are covered in great detail in the didactic portion of the course.

He is an international expert on the use of Botilinum toxin in medical conditions and pioneered the use of Botulinum toxin in dentistry. He has published in peer review journals, and developed numerous patents for the use of Botulinum toxin in medical and dental conditions. He is a consultant for Allergan (the manufacturer of Botox®) and is on the speaker's bureau for the following pharmaceutical companies: Pfizer, Merck, GSK and Ortho- McNeil.
Thank you for your reply.
