8-days postextraction of third molar: grey is visible thru small opening

Occasional stinging in jaw, otherwise no pain. The grey portion is not
motile..

(Still gently irrigating pocket with a curved syringe, the grey does
not move)

Is this a portion of exposed bone...(extraction required additional
anesthetic, which in
some studies is a predictor of dry socket, thx. )

What you are seeing is a fibrin clot.

Same thing as a scab except the red blood cells have washed out.

Gentle irrigation is all that is needed.
