The dentist from Little Shop of Horrors.
"You'll be a dentist, you have a talent for causing pain - Hey!"

Actually, one of my favourite, endearing actors was Edgar Buchanan (Uncle
Joe from Petticoat Junction). Although he wasn't a dentist on that show, I
believe he played one in at least one previous role in a western. He was,
however, a dentist in real life, a fact I learned on this newsgroup 6 years
ago:
www.imdb.com/name/nm0118000/
Just looking at him in that show makes me think of the stereotypical country
dentist, which is not quite as common nowadays.
Of course, who can forget the Mengele-based Nazi dentist in Marathon Man, as
Le Huart noted. Lawrence Olivier was one of the greatest actors of all
time: www.imdb.com/name/nm0118000/
As we all know, dentists are usually portrayed as loners, psychos,
murderers, etc. Then there's the bufoon, like Matthew Perry in The Whole
Nine Yards: www.imdb.com/title/tt0190138/ Did anyone buy the fact that he
was supposed to be a dentist? Wait a minute, its Matthew Perry we're
talking about....don't think he's very convincing at anything.

Most definitely the best dentist ever! Well, not one you'd actually
want to go see, but very funny. That's a good little movie -- Little
Shop of Horrors is the real name of the movie, tho. :-) Great
music! To whoever remembers the scene with Bill Murray, all I can say
is "Candy bar."

We recently received a recommendation for George Hardy, who apparently
starred in the best worst movie ("Trolls 2") ever:

John Henry Holliday...particularly as portrayed by Val Kilmer in Tombstone.
