So I accidently cut a small piece of my gums when I was flossing.  Do
the gums grow back in that little void?

Most times yes, but not always.

Usually, as Newbie says.  However, you should make sure your flossing
technique is good.  Repeated trauma if you're snapping the floss into
the gum is likely to cause progressive recession.  Also, make sure you
don't "saw" the floss into the gum--the correct motion is scraping the
floss against the surface of the tooth.

Correct. In an up and down motion.
