One week from today on January 14th, it will be fifteen (15) years since
my mutilated TMJs were replaced with prosthetic joints.

Even though the original catastrophe occurred 24 years ago this March, I
prefer to celebrate the years as before Techmedica (TMJ Concepts) and
after.

I hope those of you who know or know of me realize how significant this
annual celebration is to me.  Marking 15 years is something I had little
reason to expect back in 1991 as we all put together the plan... no one
really expected this outcome back then.

A grateful patient,

Congratulations. That's a long time for a joint to last.

Thanks.  Yes it is.  We all thought, in the beginning, that because I
have so little muscle strength the joints would have less "wear and
tear" than in a patient with strong muscles.  But the main idea was to
get the joints replaced as a long term treatment for what had proven to
be untreatable bony ankylosis of the joints.  Any function was better
than none at all.  And so, the important and difficult decision was
made.  If they fail tomorrow, I've got nothing to complain about.

Congratulations Webby!!! I am so happy for you! I do indeed know the
importance of the celebration of those special dates of recovery. All
this time you've had... especially with your family... nothing can
beat that!
I'm sorry to be so late with my good wishes but I'm not always up on
the newsgroups any more. Since my miracle 8 years ago I'm busy living
my life now. I'm also a new Grandmother too Webby! What fun eh? These
years... I wouldn't have missed them for the world.
I hope you have many many more years Webby! Good luck!!!

All the best to you as always... RealPerson :)

Thank you so much for taking time to post.  *And*, congratulations to
you too on becoming a new Grandmother!!! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!  :-)

smd and asj-d have seen interesting times over the years.  And there is
nothing that can deny how people have helped people to better health,
better information, and friendships when it seemed that everything would
succumb to instantaneous combustion ;-)

I'm so pleased to see your post and understand completely that you have
"life" beyond the newsgroups... and that was what all that work was
meant to achieve ... one patient at a time was all we asked... and you
know what they say about being careful what you wish for ...  :-) !!!!

Come back now and then when you have a bit of extra time. That's pretty
much what I do.

Be well,
Webby :-)
