Hello,

I'm concerned about my oldest son.  He's 8+ and still has all his baby
teeth.  There are a couple that are a little loose, but nothing close
to coming out.  Is this something to be concerned about?  His last
class picture he didn't smile becuase he's the only one that still has
all his baby teeth.  I'm starting to worry a bit on many levels.  Any
help or insight would be great.

Thanks!

There is a lot of normal variation in age of losing primary teeth, and
I've seen kids older than your son with all their baby teeth develop a
perfectly normal set of teeth.
In any case, this is easily evaluated with a couple of x-rays.  What
does your son's dentist say?

Steve-

Thanks for the quick reply.  My family dentist doesn't seem overly
concerned and x-rays are scheduled for next visit.  The thing that
concerns me is I read online (which I know isn't always true) that
often times delayed adult teeth are coupled with other development
delays; speech, fine motor skills, etc.  I'm curious if any
knowledgable person may have any experience with this.  My son did have
a speech articulation issue when younger, but with speech therapy has
overcome that.  He also has intermitent exotropia (similar to lazy eye)
that has been 90% corrected.  I'm very curious if these issues can be
tied together in some fashion.  Again, thanks in advance for your input.
