Is it possible for the removal of a wisdom tooth to cause damage to the
adjacent tooth?  Both right were removed a little over a week ago and I
have been having pain in my 2nd UR molar ever since.  At first I
attributed it to the fact that I had just had surgery (logical), then I
blamed my stitches (thought that maybe I just pulled on them when I
tried to open my mouth wide), now I'm clueless.
A dentist on another site said that it's just from the extraction and
to wait it out.  I'm willing to do it, but I want to be sure that he's
right.
Is there anything I can do (other than having a big mouth) that will
help?

I just went through this and had the same thing happen -- adjacent
teeth were presenting as if they needed root canals.  Two weeks after
the procedure, they calmed down.

ibuprofen helped me after the first week.

It is possible to traumatize the adjacent tooth, yes.  But unless the
damage is a crack (which should be apparent)--that is, if undue pressure
was put on the adjacent tooth--it should calm down fairly soon too.
