depending where it is worn, it can be replaced with porcelain composite
and gold.

Is your primary concern cosmetic, sensitivity, chewing, or what?  Are
you periodontally healthy?  How many teeth are missing, and if so are
there any replacements for these teeth?

I had quite a few teeth out in my teens and I have little trouble since
then, but as time goes on I am finding the enamel has gone for the tops of
my teeth which causes me to have some sensitivity problems.
Thanks David

If your teeth are periodontally healthy and you are having no problems
chewing and your main concern is sensitivity, the first thing is to try
desensitizing toothpastes such as Sensodyne, Denquel, Aquafresh
Sensitive etc.  If these aren't enough, there are agents your dentist
can place on your teeth that will help.
If your missing teeth haven't been replaced, doing so will lessen the
grinding forces on your remaining natural teeth.  You might consider a
hard nightguard if you think you are grinding your teeth while you sleep.
Situations where there has been major loss of tooth structure can be
restored, but doing so is involved and expensive, so if your chewing is
otherwise OK and your teeth are otherwise in good shape try the quick
easy cheap fixes first.  You can always go for the gusto later if you
are able.

Something to try for a couple weeks. Buy yourself a box of baking
soda, and use that for brushing, instead of fluoride tooth paste.

I changed from fluoride to baking soda a couple years ago. My
hygenist was totally impressed, and also the  dentist thought my
teeth looked great. When they found out I'd stopped using
fluoride they both tried to get me to go back to the high
fluoride tooth paste they were prescribing.

I'd been worried about the chalky white along the gum line. Now
my teeth are a nice healthy color,  and havn't been bothered as
much by sensetivity, etc. I'm also guessing I won't have any
cavities for my next checkup (I was averaging one cavity per
checkup).

I use just a trace of baking soda. And I rinse twice with warm
water, baking soda, like salt, is very high sodium.

Incidentally, I have no medical certifications, not even a first
aid card. Just a mouth full of comfortable teeth with good color.

Thanks, it is worth trying and in all possibility no harm can come even if
there is no improvment.

well, I have been using baking soda for about a week now, I must admit there
has been an improvment in sensitivity, I will go on using it as there seems
to be no downside.

Please remit $87.50 for internet consultation.

(Just kidding -- I can't charge money for free advice. Though, I
wish I could.)

Pleased you're feeling better than you were.
