Orthodontics alignment question

I probably should have not gone to an orthodontist, but a few of my
teeth were misaligned and I wanted it fixed.  Nearly 2 years layer,
after plenty of horrors with invisalign and braces, they're in line
with the other upper teeth, but I realize I have to bring back my lower
jaw in order to bite down fully.  It's somewhat uncomfortable, even
when not pressing down.  I find that if I close my jaw naturally, the
edges of my upper teeth hit the edges of my lower teeth, and I realize
sometimes I inadvertently bang the teeth edge-to-edge when I sneeze or
am not thinking about it.  I have these retainers but I don't think I
want to keep my teeth like this.  I don't want to go through braces
again though.

So my question is, how badly did my orthodontist screw up, and what,
perhaps, should I do?

You should contact your othodontist.  It's possible your orthodontist
didn't screw up at all, but you may need a little fininshing--it is
altogether possible that you need only a minor equilibration (grinding).
Even a small discrepency can feel awful, and this one may be easy to
rectify.

did you have your premolars extracted?

Premolars are not wisdom teeth they are the first and second teeth next
to your eye teeth going back. It is usually the first premolars that
are extracted.

Hard to say without seeing you and doing a cephalometric study on your
cephalometric x-ray film.

Time for you to have a post treatment consultation with your orthodontist -
at least I assume you went to a specialist rather than a GP that does
orthodontics.  I find that patients frequently forget there were
pretreatment skeletal discrepancies (your upper and lower jaw don't match
up).  This situation can make it impossible to have a good result unless
surgery is done to address the skeletal problems.
