I had a root canal on a tooth years ago, and a few months ago I
developed a sore spot below one of the teeth which made wearing a
partial excruciating.  I used Benzodent when I had to wear them and it
helped a little.

Now it almost looks the the gum is receeding from that tooth.   There is
still pain, but it's not as bad.  This is also the tooth that the
partial is connected to.  I'm about ready to have them all
yanked.....any suggestions before I go this route?

Thanks

The reason for the pain is totally unknown.  I assume this is the tooth
with the root canal that is causing the pain?  Are there any other
teeth in the neighborhood present that may be clasped in lieu of that
tooth?

There are only 2 teeth on that side on the bottom...both have had root
canals.

The reason for the pain will determine whether the tooth is worth
saving.  What you have to work with on the other side is also a factor.
Sometimes even if the remaining teeth are not sound periodontally it
may be feasible to create what we call an overdenture utilizing the
remaining root.  These days everyone thinks "implants", but
overdentures can be done utilizing root-canal treated roots.  This
won't work if the root is fractured though.
Your dentist should be able to discuss this with you.

Ok, thanks Steve.

BTW, I think that it's wonderful that you help us all like you do! :)

Could be a periodontal (gum) problem.
Get it checked out.

A full denture is a poor substitute for even a few teeth
supporting a partial.

A well made partial shouldn't hurt, you may just need an
adjustment.
