I am anxious for a root canal tomorrow. Although this endodontist says
no big deal - will take just over an hour, I know I will be a bundle of
nerves. He said taking Valium is ok and shouldn't interfere with the
novacaine, if I wanted to try that - plus he could add nitrous to the
mix. I called my doc for a prescription for Valium and she prescribed
Avitan instead. Does it work? Will I be a zombie for the whole day?
Any risks with also doing nitrous? Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks

Ativan is the same class of drug as Valium (Benzodiazepene). You won't
be a zombie, but of course if you're taking a drug that can lower your
alertness such as Ativan (or nitrous for that matter) you should go to
your appointment with someone, or at the least not drive right afterward.

Probably, but all individuals are different.

You won't need it.
