Hi there,
I went for a root canal op 18 months ago. The doctor told me that I could
keep the tooth installing a crown, etc. However, I had to go abroad for
work reasons and stopped the treatment, and I just forgot the whole thing.
Recently I ate some peanuts and because of that, it turns out, my tooth
went loose today. It doesn't really hurt me (nerve is gone). I have an
appointment with a dentist tomorrow (I knew I had to do it sooner or later,
but I am quite busy. I know it is my fault).
My question is: what are my chances of keeping the tooth?
Thanks.

That depends on why the tooth is loose. If it suddenly loosened after
biting on something, it sounds like the root is fractured. Whether the
tooth can be saved depends on where on the root the fracture is. Most
of the time, it's bad news--which is why we recommend restoring
endodontically treated teeth promptly.
