Hey people.
I have a question regarding my gums.
I've got some white dots forming on my upper gums and i don't know what they
are.
They don't bleed and they don't puss (spelling) or anything.
It's just really weird.
You can kind of peel the white stuff away and under is just a tiny hole that
basically looks like redder gum.
I'm really worried.
I REALLY don't want to go to the dentist.
Is there anyway i can get rid of this WITHOUT going to the dentist?
Thanks .

White stuff that peels away leaving a red sore surface sounds like a
yeast infection.
Just a guess.  Have it checked--there are medications for this.

I take it that a yeast infection of the mouth is not the same as the other?

The other what?  Vaginal yeast infections?  The organisms are pretty
much the same--species of Candida albicans (monilia).
However, I'm not aware that this can be transmitted orally or
venereally.  These are common organisms, and often show up
opportunistically--if the immune system is suppressed, or if the normal
microflora are changed.  This often happens when broad-spectrum
antibiotics are taken long-term--there is an overgrowth of unaffected
organisms, such as yeast.

Mucous membranes of the GI tract can also be affected.

Nope, same organism, similar mucosa.

At least it's not Yersenia Pestis...

Even your local MD should be able to handle this one. ;-)

You may see your physician or dentist, as you wish.  I have had the
experience of some MDs referring back to the dentist, as some are sadly
inexperienced in diagnosing even routine oral conditions like this.  But
hopefully this is the exception and not the rule.

Definitely sounds like oral thrush. You could try BioCare Oxypro -
dilute and swish round the mouth.
