Yes, peroxide rinse helps. I don't know if they are better than
Listerine or not. But I don't recommend rinse that contain alcohol.

Peroxide is no panacea. The peroxide guy, Paul Keyes came up with the
technique that used peroxide and baking soda, and advocated careful
brushing under the gumline with this slurry. If you could get this
paste to the base of the periodontal pockets to clean out the plaque
(the oxygenating action of the peroxide presumably was intended to
perhaps diminish anaerobic bacterial activity), you could improve perio
health and decrease the need for perio surgery. That's a big if though,
and I've seen little to support the superiority of peroxide as an
antimicrobial.
A much better antimicrobial is chlorhexidene gluconate, but it requires
a prescription and has some annoying side effects with long term use.
