Jaw Pain from Anti-biotic Treatment??

Back in early Spring my new dentist performed an anti-biotic treatment
for some deep pockets I have, especially from some old wisdom tee,th
extractions.  My question is, is it 'normal' to have such lingering jaw
pain after several months??  Some days the pain is almost unbearable
and I'm sure my liver is a puddle of goo from all the Tylenol I have
taken, usually 4 extra strength tablets at a time.

I just can't understand why I should have this continuing pain after
all these months.  Was this treatment an effort to rebuild bone?

Thanks for any insight you can offer.

I cannot answer you question, but you should not take that much Tylenol. I
would suggest that you alternate Tylenol and Advil (generics are fine), and
never take more than 2 500 mg Tylenol at one time.

Where is the pain located?  chin area, middle of the jaw, angle of the
jaw or near the ear?

Antibiotic treatment involves placing antibiotic medication(in the form
of chips, gel or liquid) into deep pocket.  You will have some
discomfort and pain after peridontal treatment(gum treatment).  How
long it lasts depend on the extend of the procedure.  However, it
should not continue for months.

I recommend you return to your dentist for him to take a look.

First, thank you and Mark A. both for your answers.  I certainly
appreciate it.

Some days the pain is in the cheek, other days it may zip straight up
my temple, once or twice it has headed off to my ear, and another time
or two my eye socket was throbbing.  I just didn't think this was
normal and I do alternate between the generic Tylenol and generic
Advil.  I'm so afraid she may want to treat the areas again and I've
made up my mind to refuse.  I know this is not a good idea, but I can't
handle the thought of dealing with this pain again.

Thanks ever so much!

I assume the pain started after the gum treatment and never happened
before?  Is the pain there all day long or only associates with certain
activity?  For example, opening your mouth or after you eat?

The tooth that the dentist worked on is the last tooth on the lower
right or left?  Is the pain located in that area of the cheek?  Is
there swelling there?  Is the tooth moving?  Can you bite on that
tooth?
