Tongue hits bridge and is bothersome

I just had a 7 tooth permenant bridge installed top front and I am bothered
because my relaxed tongue hits it on the left side only.

I am having a 5 tooth bridge installed on the bottom so should I wait until
it is installed before I ask my doctor to grind down the upper a bit? My
teeth look excellent but I am really stewing about the tongue hitting.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and may help ease my mind a bit.

Thank you.

Esp. if there were missing teeth that are being replaced on the bridge,
it is wise to wait.  Your tongue may have gotten very used to the spaces
over time, and it probably will get used to having teeth back there.
But it may take a little while.
It is a bit risky to try to reduce the contour of a bridge in the
mouth, and there is only so much it can be reduced anyway.  Wait if
possible.

Thank you very much for the reply. I was only missing one tooth in the
front center, the others were once crowned but had all fallen off. I think
the side of the front where my tongue hits is actually a 2 or 3 tooth
crown. They feel alot thicker than the teeth on the bridge. The bridge area
teeth don't feel as thick and when I look with a mirror I can see that they
are smaller. I am really stewing about this because I didn't notice this
before it was cemented. I will try not to worry and ask my dentist if he
can grind a little off.

Doesn't just a little always feel like alot? I hope anyways. Thanks.

Every situation is different, but yours is certainly not uncommon.
Many labs make the false teeth on a fixed bridge a bit narrower.  This
can be to lessen stress on the holding (abutment) teeth.  It also
lessens the chances of food being difficult to remove from under the
bridge.  I would tend to be forgiving unless this is unsightly under
normal conditions.
CRC as in Century Road Club?

The same dentist that did my bridge also did 4 roots canals on me,
two at a time.

Why do people cringe when you mention a root canal? They are not that bad.

No, most of them are not--and the image is skewed by the few bad ones
you are more likely to hear folks complaining about.
Just a bit impressed your using it as a sig.

If they don't complain about the root canal they complain about the cost!
OUCH! Root canals hurt the pocket book!

You are right because it seems that I am a bit less bothered everyday
so maybe I am getting used to it. The teeth that were there before were
ground down because they once had crowns and I guess I got used to the
smaller teeth. Thanks alot for all the advise.
