Wisdom teeth extraction complication

I have a question.  I had all four wisdom teeth extracted about 2
weeks ago.  Everything seemed to be fine, not much pain or anything
like that.  I just had a bunch of canker sores.  A couple days ago I
noticed some bone or something coming through the side of my gum where
one of the wisdom teeth was.  It doesn't hurt but I called up the
people who did the surgery anyway.  The lady I talked to said to try to
push the bone sticking out back to where its suppose to go to try to
direct it a couple times a day and call them back if it becomes more of
a problem.

I was just wondering what it could be, or what I should do?

You should not be asked to do any bone-pushing!  You probably have a
sequestrum (small piece of devitalized bone) exposed.  It will
eventually break off, but the surgeon should be happy to see you and
smooth out any exposed bone or remove any small fragments that may be
working their way through the bone.
Oh, do the surgeon a favor (on the large chance that this was the
receptionist's idea) that his front-desk person is giving out
bone-pushing advice.
