I had a root canal last month and in the last couple of days I have noticed
significant swelling around the tooth that received the root canal. There is
minimal pain in the tooth.....is this something that would usually pass or
does it need to receive attention? What would be the reasons for the swelling?
Any help would be great.

Infection.. when this happened to me, after several courses of
antibiotics and a fair bit of time, I eventually lost the tooth.
Cheerful aren't I!

Is the swelling at the point where the tooth meets the gums or farther down
along the gums? Just give your dentist a call...he/she may need to get the
filling material out of the root and place a medicine to help kill any bugs
down in there. A pain in the behind, yes...but it doesn't mean you are
going to lose the tooth.

No way to tell without looking.
Have it checked.
