I am going to need upper and lower dentures, am on Soc. Sec
disibility, and Soc. Sec. does not contribute to dental work.
A local dentist quoted me $2400 which I can not afford.  How
do I go about finding a low cost provider of qualtiy dentures?

Hi Dick
Where do you live. If in Florence North Carolina there is a dental
clinic called Sexton dental clinic

http://www.sextondental.net/page3.html

which make dentures (full) for 180 dollars and they have also
customized much cheaper than the normal dentists. The extractions are
18 dollars pr tooth if you shall have dentures included in the
treatment.
I have talked to them and they are very nice people and do a good job .
That I have heard from people who have been there.
If you are further away there the affordable denture group. You can go
in and search for a location. They are spread over the whole of USA. If
they are too expensive you can try the dental schools. I know that some
charge in relation to income so it can be very advantagous.
I wish you good luck

I am not a dentist, but I think going to a quality dentist with goo
communication skills, one that will listen to your concerns, one tha
will provide excellent follow-up service and one that is known t
provide quality work _is_worth_the_money_ in this case

Beng able to chew properly, eat comfortably, and having a decent smil
are integral to your health and well-being.  Often dentures require
few adjustments once placed.   It is my understanding that the ca
tissue shrink a bit after the initial fitting, so you watn to have
dentist that you can communicate with and one that will not blow yo
off if you need additional adjustments

$2400 is a lot of money, and you can shop around and try to find
lower price, but as the old saying goes... one usually gets what on
pays for

Keep in mind also, you may be able to negoitiate a payment plan tha
fits your budget.

You can check and see if there are any "sliding fee" clinics in you
area, or check out the nearest dental school.  I am sure the dentis
that quoted $2400 can refer you to one of these if you ask him/her

I do believe all of these options can provide you with quality servic
& product, provided you are paired with a dentist with whom you ar
comfortable (i.e. comfortable with his/her communication style
demeanor, etc.).

jmho

Best of luck to you
