Despite having no obvious sign of infection around it, I been sick from
the day I got a dental implant (lower back molar).

that spot had had a long infection brewing before the tooth was
removed. the tooth was out for a year and then they put an implant.
Since then I have felt exactly the way i did when I had the infection.
There is a slight swelling in the area but it is not blown up.

Has anyone else had an immune type reaction like this to a dental
implant?

It seems unlikely to me that you'd get a true immune-type reaction
without some obvious reaction either locally or systemically.  You need
to be evaluated by an oral surgeon--first of all, to make sure there are
no other teeth that can be causing the pain, and secondly to make sure
there is nothing wrong with either the placement or the healing around
the fixture that might be responsible.

Good luck,
Steve
