Hi,
I'm going to be a dental student this fall and I just got a bunch of
extracted teeth from my local dentist. When he gave them to me, they were in
a water/bleach solution and though they weren't in the best shape, they
looked relatively ok.
the problem now is this: i transferred the teeth to my own mason jar i have
at home and i put a 1:3 (bleach:water) solution (this was recommended by the
dentist i work for). the next day, the solution was all BLACK and most of
the teeth were BLACKENED too!! i tried to scrape the black residue off, but
it won't come off easily. Most of the black parts are the roots of the teeth.
I have no idea what is going on and why they would all of a sudden turn black
now, but it just seems like a waste that all these teeth can't be used now
for practice. any suggestions or explanations?
thanks!

you can still use them...you are just going to be drilling cavity
preparations into them, so the roots won't matter.

I have teeth that were extracted from my mouth 15 years ago & they are still
in perfect shape.
