Dental implants after bike accident

Hi there,

I had a push bike accident that damaged and moved my front teeth 3
years ago. After 2.5 years of orthodontic treatment I was ready to
finalise the treatment and put 3 implants (12, 21, 22).

I've had this procedure done a month ago, successfully 3 implants were
placed and since I'd lost gum tissue he also brought my gum line down.
He also did a bone graft to fill a small space where bone was missing.
On the xray I can see that the implants go up to behind my nose. They
placed the provisory teeth a week after the surgery.

A little hole was left to heal on top of the front implant (on the roof
of my mouth), it hasn't yet closed and I can see a bit of the actual
pins (21,22). Also, since then I feel the gum they brought down is
receeding and the plan is to have a gum surgery in 3 months time.

My questions are:

1 - Should I be worried with this little hole and the fact that I can
see a bit of the pins?

2 - The gum receeding on top of the 2 implants, how successful can a
gum graft be?

3 - How long does it take to actually know if the implants have worked?
What are the signs that it's not working?

They used Branmark (?) material.

I hope to hear your suggestions and comments

Thank you
Silvia

It's nice to get healing over the implant fixture.  However, I've seen
implants work out just fine where the gum didn't entirely close.
Whether the gum recession is significant depends on how long the
implants are, and whether the recession will lead to a cosmetic problem
in the finished restoration.  Your dentist should be able to advise you
in greater detail.
Signs that an implant is failing are usually signs of
infection--looseness of the implant, swelling, pus draining.  The
success rate of implants is high, but they can fail--sometimes even
years after apparently successful insertion.
