Crown Sensitivity....

Hello, I'm searching for a little advice....

Had a deep filling about 2 years ago in right top molar, dentist
recommended a crown - said there might be a chance I would need a root
canal as he got close to the nerve.

2 years have gone by and things were great. Had my wisdom teeth removed
in May and now my crown is sensitive to cold and aches slightly with
pressure. Ached a little after the wisdom tooth extraction, and now
again this week.

Question:

Scheduled to leave town early Monday for a week, is this something I
should be worried about? Normal?

Thanks for your opinions,

Tough to say.  Two possibilities come to mind if the crown is directly
in front of the wisdom tooth that was extracted:
1) There was a bit too much pressure placed on the crowned tooth in the
course of the wisdom tooth extraction.  It may have been moved slightly,
or the crown may have been slightly dislodged, and you may be putting
too much pressure on it when chewing.
2) There may have been some gum recession from the extraction, exposing
some root surface on the crowned tooth.  This can cause cold sensitivity.

This should be checked out.  While I can't rule out the possibility you
may need root canal, there's a good chance you won't.
